Children's villages came into being during the second world war; millions of children were sent and taken there after losing their parents and families.

 

70 years later; Children's Villages continue to exist all around the world; a concerning sign of a systemic social problem in communities and in society.

 

Countles other children were sent away to rural areas to live in temporary homes; this worked well for some; and for others; like my late Nanna; it was so bad there that she wrote a letter to her parents for them to collect her; opting for the blitz with her family over this unloving home.

 

Wars have continued since and seem to be increasing; World War 3 is touted on the news every day; so too is conscription.

 

A Children's Village is an action research project for waymakers and changemakers in local communities to collaborate in making preparations, plans and processes for these scenarios; and in a way that is empowering; engaging, emphathic and evolutionary.

 

At the heart of this, lies another belief; and a deep hearted welcome for us to explore and experiment with positive possibilities beyond what we even imagine; for the children of these times.

 

We have a say in how this plays out; we each have a part to play.
